Festival Jury

Animator/educator Pilar Newton-Katz has illustrated and animated for Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Cartoon Network, MTV, Ted Ed and Sirius Thinking among many others. Her print work includes several children's books for Nickelodeon, illustrations for Nick Jr. Magazine and Power Girl Magazine which is distributed to Oprah Winfrey’s South African school for girls. With a focus on 2D Flash animation, Pilar’s Brooklyn-based company PilarToons, LLC has a growing client base. As an avid educator, Pilar teaches several acclaimed after-school animation programs. She is also a visiting teacher at New York City’s prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and the Performing Arts where she is also a graduate.


Peter Ahern graduated from Pratt Institute in 2009 with a BFA in Film and a concentration in Traditional Animation. With the help of an internationally recognized thesis film, he has since launched a successful freelance career in the commercial world of animation - collaborating on numerous projects for clients such as The Walking Dead, IBM, the NBA, Sephora and the X-Games, as well as contributed content for a variety of networks including Nickelodeon, MTV, The History Channel and Showtime. He currently resides in Brooklyn with his cat Brillo and a growing collection of taxidermy.
